Nicolo Zingales is a Lecturer in competition and information law at Sussex Law School. His research spans across different areas of Internet law and governance, with particular focus on the roles and responsibilities of digital platforms and intermediaries in the online ecosystem. He is also co-founder and co-chair of the Internet Governance Forum’s Dynamic Coalition on Platform Responsibility, co-founder of the MyData Global Network, an editor of Medialaws, and non-governmental advisor to the International Competition Network.

He joined Sussex from Tilburg Law School, where he was Assistant Professor and where he maintains affiliations as research associate (with the Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology and Society) and extramural fellow (with the Tilburg Law and Economics Center). He previously held appointments at the law schools of the Fundação Getulio Vargas, the Graduate Institute of Geneva, New York University, Harvard University and the Max Planck Institute for Competition and Innovation. He was also a Google Policy Fellow at Research ICT Africa, a consultant on Internet freedom for APC and CIPESA, and worked at the European Commission and the European Court of Justice as part of his traineeship as qualified lawyer.  He holds a JD from the University of Bologna and a PhD in international law and economics from Bocconi University.
