AVMSD and video-sharing platforms regulation: toward a user-oriented solution?

Following more than two years of negotiations, the revised EU Audiovisual Media Services Directive was adopted in November 2018, aiming to better reflect the digital age and create a more level playing field between traditional television and newer on-demand and video-sharing services. Here, Lubos Kuklis, chief executive of the Slovak media authority (CBR) and chair of the European Regulators Group for Audiovisual Media Services (ERGA), continues an exchange with Stanford’s Joan Barata on the implications of the new regulation of video-sharing platforms.
