Sri Lanka temporarily blocks access to Facebook for not doing enough in combatting hate speech on their platforms

On March 8, 2018, the government of Sri Lanka ordered ISPs to temporarily block access to Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram "because they were spreading hate speeches and amplifying them" as violent protests occurred in the country, according to a government spokesperson.
